Ever since I can remember, I have been so utterly competitive it's ridiculous. I was raised playing fast pitch softball and thrived on the competition aspect of the game. It wasn't until recently that I had to stop playing due to an knee injury, but my competitive nature has still continued to shine through. I am the first to admit though, my competitive nature just doesn't occur just in sport…but in life as well.
I was talking to my dad just tonight, about this flaw (I call it a flaw because really it has become quite crippling over the years) and he brought up a very valid point, LIFE IS NOT A COMPETITION This is something that I seriously need to be reminded at every minute of every day. It doesn't matter what people think, there is going to be people better than me and there is going to be people more successful than me. But I am exactly who I am supposed to be and I shouldn't need or want to be better than anyone. I should only want to be better than the person I was the day before.
I am so grateful for my dad, a man I have truly come to truly rely on, for advice and when I have my 6 month emotional blow ups. (Yes these happen) So thanks dad, for teaching me about Kakes in life, the good, the bad, and the ugly ones. You da best! *insert Kayla hug here*
Enjoy the Kakes, even if they are super competitive:)
